June 7 - Patio is poured and stamped

We had the concrete on our lower level patio poured and then stamped today. You won't be able to see the final result from these pics. It still needs to be power washed and sealed tomorrow.

We originally chose a primary color called French Cream with a Colina Tan release color. But the concrete company advised that the French Cream had to be cast onto wet concrete instead of incorporating all the color into the mix in the truck. Therefore, we changed to Smoke with Colina Tan. We are anxious to see how it turns out once it is sealed. The pattern is called Bluestone.

Tomorrow, they will pour the garage floor.

No concrete pumper truck today. They used the skid loader.

There's a 1 inch drop to make sure the patio drains properly.

The Smoke color is already in the concrete.

The Tan "release color" is hand cast on top of the wet Smoke colored concrete. This will be like a shadow color filling the low spots and impressions in the pattern.

The finished result should look like a natural stone.

Tomorrow morning they'll return to power wash the patio to remove some of the Tan release color and then apply a sealer.

And, the garage floor is now ready for 5 inches of concrete to be poured tomorrow morning.

  1. So far the weather is cooperating quite a bit for the concrete work. Lookin' good so far. Can't wait to share a beer on the patio and deck. Maybe even a little Templeton or George
